“One Market Restaurant has maintained a tradition of offering exceptional cuisine and gracious service,” says Gilpin. “One of the most important aspects of my job is to make sure that we continue to exceed our guests’ expectations while setting new standards.”

Born and raised in Ohio, Gilpin got his first taste of the culinary world more than 20 years ago as a busboy at a traditional steakhouse in Cincinnati, where he was immediately captivated by the excitement of the hospitality industry. Throughout the next 20 years he managed to work at a number of diverse restaurants, as well as obtain his bachelor of arts degree from Ohio State University. He held nearly every restaurant position possible, from head server to kitchen manager. Gilpin left the Midwest to relocate to Los Angeles, then Pasadena, where he was a manager at Derek’s Bistro. He then moved to Livermore with his family and spent two years at home with his twin sons, Jonah and Caleb, prior to joining One Market Restaurant in 2007 as a manager. He was promoted to the position of General Manager in June 2008.

“The most gratifying aspect of my position is when I receive a genuine ‘thank you’ from a guest for all of our collected efforts and knowing that this guest will share their experience with their friends and family,” says Gilpin. “Quite simply, I enjoy making people happy and knowing that my work is well-rewarded with the continued success of the restaurant.”

Gilpin resides in Livermore, one of the oldest wine-growing regions in California, whose wineries he periodically visits for wine tasting. When he is not busy at One Market Restaurant he enjoys photography, leisure reading and spending time with his family.
